Job description

📍UK Remote |Night Shifts │2 x 12-hour shifts, 20:00–08:00, rolling or set days

Does this sound like you?

You’re a qualified and compassionate counsellor who thrives in supporting others when they need it most. Calm under pressure, you bring empathy, professionalism, and sound clinical judgement to every interaction. Working independently through the night doesn’t faze you – you value being that steady voice on the other end of the line when someone reaches out in crisis.

What you'll be doing (in a nutshell):

As part of our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) team, you’ll provide confidential, in-the-moment support to employees of our client organisations. Covering night shifts, you’ll be that vital lifeline for individuals facing challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, financial concerns, or family issues. Using a stepped care model, you’ll assess needs, provide immediate interventions, and guide people towards the most appropriate support pathways.

Day to day you can expect to:
  • Answer inbound calls and provide immediate counselling and emotional support
  • Deliver psychoeducation and therapeutic interventions over the phone
  • Assess risk and, where needed, elevate to emergency services
  • Guide clients towards suitable internal services or external agencies
  • Keep accurate and professional clinical records
  • Collaborate remotely with your team to maintain seamless service delivery
  • Complete essential administrative tasks alongside client work
To be successful you’ll have:
  • A minimum Level 4 Diploma in Counselling (or equivalent)
  • 400+ clinical hours and 2 years post-qualification
  • Current registration with BACP, UKCP, NCS, or an equivalent professional body
  • Proven experience delivering short-term, solution-focused interventions (ideally via telephone or helpline work)
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills
  • Confidence assessing and managing risk in high-pressure situations
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently during night hours
  • Familiarity with clinical record systems and compliance requirements

Please note, all applicants must be legally entitled to accept and perform work in the UK and all positions are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
