Job summary

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Healthcare Support Worker to join the Macmillan Health Care Team for end-of-life care, including overnight shifts. The role supports registered nurses and works across the clinical area to meet patients’ needs and those of their families.

You will help with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and observations while maintaining dignity, confidentiality and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight care under supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Monitor patients’ comfort, wellbeing and safety; report changes promptly to the Registered Nurse.
• Assist patients with personal care, toileting, mobility, repositioning and daily living needs with dignity.
• Support the Registered Nurse with patient observations and routine care within competence.
• Maintain accurate patient records, care notes and documentation.
• Answer calls professionally; take messages and direct inquiries to staff.
• Carry out administrative duties; update records and support overnight operations.
• Drive as required to support patient visits or transport staff; drive safely.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding, infection prevention, health and safety policies.
• Respond promptly to emergencies; escalate to the Registered Nurse.
• Ensure a safe, clean, organized night-shift environment.
• Communicate effectively with the Registered Nurse, colleagues, patients and families to ensure continuity of care.
