Job summary

Riverside is seeking a Support Assistant in Lewisham to help run one of our supported housing services. This role focuses on safety, wellbeing and day-to-day support for customers, without personal care responsibilities.

You’ll handle a range of tasks from coordinating with GP, Social Services or benefits teams to logging incidents and preparing rooms for new occupants. A background in customer-facing work and basic IT skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with people in a customer facing environment.
• Understanding of supporting vulnerable people – may include lived experience of homelessness or addiction.
• Basic administrative and IT skills and attention to detail to maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Support customers in day-to-day operations of a housing service.
• Ensure safety and wellbeing of customers in accommodation.
• Log incidents and maintain accurate records.
• Prepare rooms for new occupants after a customer leaves.
• Support communications with GP, Social Services, benefits teams and emergency services when needed.

Working Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week

Working Pattern:Rolling rota Night shift, covering a mixture of shifts as required by the service

Location: Rokeby House, Lewisham

The difference you will make as aSupport Assistant

You will be key in the day-to-day running of one of our supported housing services. We don’t run care homes, so there’s no need to provide personal care. The priority in your role includes the safety and wellbeing of everyone in our accommodation, including our customers.

Working with people who have a range of needs, you could be doing any number of things. From supporting customers in conversations with calls from their GP, Social Services, or benefits teams – to dealing with the emergency services including the Police and Ambulance, when the need arises.

You’ll log all incidents to make sure we have an accurate record of events. And when a customer leaves, you will clean and prepare their room, ready for the next occupant.

About you

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience of working with people in a customer facing environment.
• An understanding of supporting vulnerable people – this could include having your own lived experience of homelessness or drug or alcohol addiction.
• Basic administrative and IT skills and attention to detail are required to maintain records and in-house systems.
