Job summary

Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in East Grinstead is seeking a Mechanical/Plumbing technician at NHS AfC Band 5. The role is permanent full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with on-call duties and salary £32,073–£39,043 per year.

You will undertake complex planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical plant across the Trust, supporting a multi-skilled Estates team and ensuring safe, compliant operation of facilities.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, plus demonstrable experience in mechanical maintenance.
• Water Regulations or Unvented Cylinders knowledge required.
• Apprenticeship or technical qualification with hands-on hospital estates experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and solve a wide range of complex technical issues in mechanical and engineering systems.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to high standards, including compliance with statutory regulations.
• Lead and support the Estates team, including on-call duties and training of colleagues.
• Coordinate with external contractors to ensure safe, cost-effective service delivery.

Education

NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Water Regulations or Unvented Cylinders

Apprenticeship, City & Guilds, BTEC, HNC/HND or equivalent training

HNC/HND plus relevant experience

Tools

IPAF/PASMA licence
