East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust invites applications for a consultant post in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine, spanning inpatient, day unit and outpatient care across East Sussex.

The role is cross-site, working with a multidisciplinary team, including ultrasound-fast track GCA clinic, with population catchment and community clinics at Hastings and Uckfield.

Qualifications

• MRCP or equivalent required.
• CCT in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine or CESR, or within six months of CCT award by interview date.
• Experience in rheumatology and general medicine.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient, day unit and outpatient rheumatology and general medicine services for East Sussex residents
• Work within a multidisciplinary team alongside consultant colleagues
• Run the ultrasound-incorporated fast track GCA clinic
• Take part in cross-county clinical activity at community clinics, including Conquest Hospital in Hastings and Uckfield Community Hospital
• Attend regular audit, governance and outcome meetings with colleagues at the other site
• Contribute to the development of the patient-centred rheumatology service

Job description

This consultant post sits in the Department of Rheumatology at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, covering rheumatology and general medicine. The work centres on inpatient, day unit and outpatient care for a catchment of about 544,000 people across East Sussex, delivered within a multidisciplinary team. The role is cross-site, split between the main hospital and outreach clinics at community sites, and includes an ultrasound-led fast track GCA clinic. Applicants need a CCT or CESR and a place on the GMC Specialist Register.
