Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a Newly Qualified Occupational Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Brookthorpe Hall School. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Occupational Therapy Ways of Working, hold a caseload with support from your supervisor and site lead, and contribute to staff training and consultation as required.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver bespoke OT assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs.
  • Hold and manage an occupational therapy caseload within a school setting.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including the education team.
  • Support staff training and consultation as required.
  • Ensure practice follows the OFG Occupational Therapy Ways of Working and professional standards.
Qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy
  • Registered member of RCOT
  • HCPC registered
  • Relevant previous experience as a student OT or in a previously held OT job
  • Previous engagement with people experiencing learning difficulty and/or neurodiversity in any setting
  • Good communication, analytical and judgemental skills
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Evidence of understanding the relationship between behaviour and communication
  • Basic understanding of physical needs, dexterity, coordination and sensory skills for assessment and treatment of this client group
  • Basic IT skills
  • Understanding of information governance, confidentiality and record‑keeping standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable
  • Experience of multi‑disciplinary working in a range of settings
  • Experience of communicating with/working with families, relatives and carers
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to this client group
  • Knowledge of different assessment tools, intervention programmes and formulation of treatment plans from a range of OT modalities
