Job summary

The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool is recruiting a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant for Lipton Ward. The role involves supporting a registered nurse in delivering patient care, with development to Band 3 on meeting competencies within six months.

Rotation through days and nights, 37.5 hours per week, with part-time options considered. The Trust supports progression to Band 3 and requires NVQ Level 2 in healthcare. UK visa sponsorship is not available for Band 2.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in healthcare or equivalent.
• Willingness to undertake further study.
• Experience in healthcare settings.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Promotes effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team.
• Contributes to management of aggressive and abusive behaviour.
• General bed making/making up of clean beds in readiness for new admissions, and operation beds.
• Clear and clean vacated bed spaces and prepare ready for use according to the ward/unit protocol.
• Prepare used linen bags for collection by Porters and ensure adequate supply of linen bags/skips ready for use.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas.
• Safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps as per Trust policy.
• Attend to the needs of visitors and patients particularly those who may be distressed or bereaved.
• Care for patients property, including valuables, in accordance with Trust policy.
• Obtain demographic details and social history from patients/visitors to assist in the admission process.
• Attend induction course and complete orientation programme in order to achieve core competencies.
• Participate in orientation, support and instruction of new and less experienced staff.
• Acknowledge limitations of knowledge and clinical skills
• Seek appropriate advice and support
