Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking an enthusiastic nurse practitioner to join the Specialist Children & Young People's Service (SCYPS) in Newham, focusing on neurodevelopmental conditions and ASD. You will contribute to multi-professional assessments and develop streamlined care pathways, working with paediatricians, GPs and education teams.

The role involves leading on ASD assessments using up-to-date tools, supporting families, and helping implement waiting list initiatives

Qualifications

• Experience in maintaining systems to measure performance.
• Participation in the development of policies and procedures.
• Recognised health qualification relevant to specialty including professional registration (NMC).
• Sufficient NHS Band 6 or equivalent experience.
• ASD assessment experience and post-graduate learning in neurodevelopment disorders.
• ASD assessment tool training (e.g., ADOS).
• Training in evidence-based psychological approaches (e.g., CBT).
• Line management experience and supervision skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to multi-professional assessments of neurodevelopmental conditions with a focus on ASD in children and young people.
• Develop and streamline patient care pathways between nursing, AHPs, GPs and paediatricians; liaise with other services for a coordinated service.
• Support the ongoing development of care pathways for ASD by reviewing caseloads and referral criteria; discuss outcomes with patients, carers and health professionals.

Job description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, forward thinking practitioner with experience of Neurodevelopmental Conditions & a special interest in ASD to join our Specialist Children & Young People's Service (SCYPS) in Newham. The post holder will contribute to the development of a service for the assessment and review of children with neurodevelopmental conditions (primarily autistic spectrum disorder). They will work in partnership with Community Paediatricians, GP's and universal services to ensure delivery of an effective pathway, inclusive of wider community support. The post holder will contribute to the development & ongoing review of care pathways, policies, audits of service outcomes & develop waiting list initiatives to achieve agreed targets. The post holder will contribute to or lead multi-professional assessments of neurodevelopmental conditions in children & young people referred to the Child Development Service. Providing specialist nursing practice across professional boundaries & develop streamlined patient care pathways between nursing, GP's & paediatricians, setting up shared care arrangements for each child as appropriate. Assessment outcomes will be discussed & agreed with patients, carers & other health care professionals, promoting health education & self-management whilst keeping the child, young person and family at the centre of care., 1. Contribute to multi-professional assessments of neurodevelopmental conditions, with a specific focus on ASD, in children and young people referred to the Child Development Service. Utilising up to date and evidence based assessment techniques and tools, assessing information from education providers and parents/carers alongside observation of the young person. This may include specialist assessments in clinic, and observations in educational settings. 2. Provide specialist nursing practice across professional boundaries and develop and streamline patient care pathways between nursing, AHP's, GP's and paediatricians. Liaising closely with other services in order to provide a co-ordinated and seamless service for patients. 3.
