Job summary

Tesco is seeking a Data Scientist to join its Data Science team, focusing on neural network‑based forecasting for large‑scale retail time series. You will design models, build end‑to‑end pipelines, and ensure robust evaluation and deployment across cloud environments.

You will collaborate with engineering, product and business partners to deliver measurable value while mentoring junior team members. A strong mathematical background, Python proficiency, and experience with big data are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills with Python; experience in ML/DL workflows.
• Experience designing and deploying neural networks for forecasting.
• Proven ability to translate business problems into data science solutions.
• Experience with big data tools and cloud environments; GPU-enabled workflows advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and improve deep learning and forecasting models for large retail time series.
• Build training and backtesting pipelines with robust validation and leakage controls.
• Pioneer productionisation practices including monitoring and retraining strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering, product and business partners to deliver measurable business value.
• Mentor junior team members and interns and promote data science across Tesco.
