Job summary

Opticore IT is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join a major security project in Central London, with one day onsite per week. This 6-month contract sits inside IR35.

You will work with an existing Opticore Palo Alto consultant, delivering hands-on firewall engineering, policy management, migrations and documentation across the customer environment.

The role focuses on Palo Alto firewalls, Strata Cloud Manager, and collaboration with network and security teams.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to manage relationships with enterprise customers and stakeholders.
• Experience working with security engineering teams on large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of the project alongside the Opticore Palo Alto consultant.
• Manage, troubleshoot and optimise Palo Alto firewalls, including HA deployments.
• Use Strata Cloud Manager (SCM) to manage the security environment.
• Troubleshoot complex firewall, connectivity and performance issues.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge transfer.
• Work with the customer's network, security and infrastructure teams.
• Assist with firewall upgrades, migrations and maintenance.

Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced,challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

Opticore IT are currently searching for a Network Security Engineerto join a customer environment supporting a major network security project, this opportunity will work alongside an existing Palo Alto consultant from Opticore. This will be an initial 6 month contract inside IR35 with scope to extend and requires one day onsite per week in Central London.

This opportunity will work alongside an existing Opticore employee, providing hands-on engineering and operational support throughout the project working closely with customer site to solve complex technical challenges they are facing.

What you'll be doing:

• Work closely with the existing Opticore Palo Alto consultant to support delivery of the project.

• Provide hands-on Palo Alto Networks engineering and operational support within the customer

• environment.

• Manage, troubleshoot and optimise Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including active/active high-availability deployments.

• Use Strata Cloud Manager (SCM) to manage, monitor and administer the Palo Alto security environment.

• Troubleshoot complex firewall, HA, connectivity and performance issues.

• Support firewall policy, security rules, NAT and configuration management.

• Provide technical support for proxy infrastructure and associated security policies.

• Work collaboratively with the customer's network, security and infrastructure teams.

• Assist with firewall upgrades, configuration changes, migrations and maintenance activities.

• Support the migration and transformation of legacy firewall and proxy technologies where required.

• Participate in technical workshops, troubleshooting sessions and project activities.

• Contribute to technical documentation, operational procedures and knowledge transfer.

• Act as a trusted technical resource within the customer's security engineering team.

What you'llbring:

• Strong knowledge of Palo Alto Network Firewalls

• Extensive experience with Palo Alto Active/Active

• Strong knowledge of Strata Cloud Manager

• Strong technical stakeholder and enterprise customer management
