This is a hands‑on coordination role within a critical transport network covering approximately 2,300 miles of the Strategic Road Network across the West Midlands and surrounding counties. The area includes key motorway interchanges and plays a central role in UK connectivity, including works linked to the HS2 network.

The Opportunity

As a freelance Network Occupancy Coordinator, you'll support the Planning, Delivery and Network Occupancy teams by managing and coordinating all network occupancy activity. Your focus will be on ensuring bookings are accurately logged, validated, and managed to maximise delivery while remaining fully compliant with National Highways requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acting as Works Receiver, managing and coordinating all requests, notices and permits for network occupancy
  • Managing all internal and third‑party works within NOMs / street works systems
  • Ensuring compliance with NOMs accuracy, including correct on/off road timings
  • Reviewing, analysing and providing feedback on network occupancy requests
  • Managing communications around booking confirmations, rejections and variations
  • Validating bookings with National Highways prior to publication
  • Supporting compliance with GM702 requirements on behalf of the client
What I'm Looking For
  • Previous experience working with traffic management and/or street works (highly desirable)
  • Knowledge of highways maintenance environments
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines effectively
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and related systems
