A leading electricity distribution company seeks a Network Management Engineer in Cardiff. This role involves planning outages while ensuring system security and compliance with regulations. Candidates must hold a Level 4 / HNC in Engineering and possess relevant experience. The position offers the possibility of hybrid working upon proven competence in the role, alongside competitive benefits including paid leave and a contributory pension.
An 18 month temporary opportunity is available for a Network Management Engineer based at the South West & Wales Control Centre, Lamby Way, Cardiff. Reporting to the Control Centre Operations Manager, this full-time role may offer the opportunity of hybrid working when the successful person is competent in the role.You’ll be responsible for the successful planning of outages in an NGED area with due regard to system security and whole-business operational requirements, also supporting the Control Centre by determining the specific running arrangements for system faults and emergencies. As part of the role, you’ll also consider generator curtailment and network constraints in respect of outages, and work to produce the year-ahead plan, whilst considering 5- and 10-year planning. Successful candidates must have a minimum of a Level 4 / HNC in Engineering that includes some electrical modulesEvidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.*Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

The responsibilities of the specific role will include:
Knowledge or experience of electrical systems or networks is desirable for this role, this could be from planning or operational experiences. As the post you are applying for attracts a National Security Vetting clearance there are further eligibility requirements, information can be found on the gov.uk website. To meet national security vetting requirements you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years for Security Clearance (SC) prior to the date of application. There are exceptions to this however and examples of these include: you have been serving overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of HM Government you were studying abroad you were living overseas with parents.
