Job description
Network Field Service Engineer

We are seeking a Network Field Service Engineer to join our on-site team delivering a Managed Service to one of our main clients site in Preston. This is an operational, site-based role ensuring contractual SLAs are met, device failures are resolved promptly, and customer satisfaction is consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Physical installation of switches and network equipment
  • Configuration of switching infrastructure and Juniper Wireless Access Points
  • Troubleshooting and resolving wired network issues (with support from the wider team)
  • Maintaining network availability through routine documentation and maintenance practices
  • Replacing faulty hardware components (switches, access points, peripherals) when required
  • Providing professional updates to customers on incidents, problems, and changes via phone and email
  • Maintaining ITSM systems with high-quality work notes
  • Participating in an on-call rota to provide onsite support for P1 and P2 incidents, including hardware replacement where necessary
  • Engaging with third-party vendors to progress support calls and technical advice
  • Ensuring excellent standards of customer care at all times
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

Essential:

  • Knowledge of Juniper switching and wireless
  • Knowledge of best practice LAN cabling
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical issues clearly to different audiences
  • Team player, flexible, resilient, and professional
  • Customer-facing IT support experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Evidence of working effectively in a team

Desirable:

  • Hands-on Juniper experience
  • Network security knowledge
  • Experience in network cabling installation and site surveying
