Job summary

Hamilton Barnes is seeking a Network Engineer for a 6-month hybrid contract based in Corsham. You will work on designing, building and supporting enterprise network infrastructure across physical and virtual environments, applying leaf-spine architectures and VXLAN overlays.

The role requires hands-on experience with routers, switches and firewalls, familiarity with OSPF/BGP and IP addressing, and current UK Security Clearance (SC) or eligibility.

Qualifications

• CCNP or equivalent certification desirable.
• Strong IP networking fundamentals incl. subnetting and addressing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support enterprise network infrastructure across physical and virtual environments.
• Deliver network solutions using leaf-spine and VXLAN overlays.
• Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and IP services (addressing, QoS).
• Support secure network implementations including Firewall policies, IDS/IPS, and secure communications.
• Produce and review design documentation, build guides, and operational procedures.
• Support system integration, testing, and incident resolution with Service Management.

Applications are open for a Network Engineer to provide hands-on engineering support on a 6-month hybrid contract based in Corsham. The ideal candidate will work with the physical and virtual networking technologies that form the backbone of the platform, supporting full lifecycle delivery from design and build through to integration, testing, and operational support within a secure, regulated environment. Current UK Security Clearance (SC) is required.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and support enterprise network infrastructure across physical and virtual environments, including Routers, Switches, and Firewalls
• Deliver network solutions aligned to modern architectures such as leaf-spine and software-defined networking, deploying overlay technologies such as VXLAN
• Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and implement network services including IP Addressing, subnetting, QoS, and traffic management
• Support secure network implementations including Firewall policies, IDS/IPS, and secure communications
• Produce and review technical artefacts including design documentation, build guides, and operational procedures
• Support system integration, testing, and validation of network services, working with Service Management to resolve incidents and service issues

Skills/Must Have:

• Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, UK Security Clearance (SC)
• Strong network engineering experience across design, implementation, and troubleshooting, with solid IP Networking fundamentals including subnetting and addressing
• Experience with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and advanced knowledge of Routers, Switches, and Firewalls
• Experience with enterprise network technologies such as Cisco Nexus, IOS XE, leaf-spine architecture, and VXLAN
• Understanding of network security technologies (Firewalls, IDS/IPS, AAA platforms) and QoS/traffic management, with CCNP or equivalent certification - desirable: defence or secure public sector experience, secure gateway architectures, multi-tenanted network design

Contract Details:

• Hybrid in Corsham
• 6-Month Initial Contract - Inside IR35
• SC required (or eligibility to obtain)

Salary:

• £550 per day (Inside IR35)
