Job summary

G-Research is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to drive reliability, performance, resilience and security of our network and security infra from our London HQ. You will own end-to-end operations, enhance observability, and champion automation across Cisco and Arista environments.

The role requires hands-on experience with BGP/OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN, MPLS, and network monitoring tools. Join a world-class team building scalable platforms for high-impact research in a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Strong background as a Network Engineer in enterprise or large-scale environments.
• Experience applying SRE, observability and automation principles to networking.
• Experience with Cisco and Arista switching, routing and security infra.
• Expertise in Cisco and Arista IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS and EOS platforms.
• Hands-on with BGP, OSPF, EVPN, VXLAN and MPLS; strong monitoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the operational performance, stability, availability and security posture end to end for network platforms.
• Enhance observability with telemetry, alerting and performance monitoring (Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).
• Implement and maintain scalable, resilient datacentre network infra on Cisco/Arista tech.
• Automate tasks using Python, Ansible, Jinja2 and Git.
• Support IaC and CI/CD for network provisioning; manage incident response and postmortems.
• Drive WAN CEs, MPLS knowledge and network security across enterprise and campus.

The role

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to drive the reliability, performance, resilience and security of our network and network security infrastructure.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Owning the operational performance, stability, availability and security posture of network and network security platforms end to end
• Enhancing observability across telemetry, alerting and performance monitoring using tools such as Grafana, Prometheus and ThousandEyes to enable proactive operations
• Implementing and maintaining scalable, resilient datacentre network infrastructure built on Cisco and Arista technologies
• Championing automation of operational tasks using Python, Ansible, Jinja2 and Git
• Supporting and extending Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD practices for network provisioning
• Owning break/fix and incident response for complex enterprise and campus network issues
• Driving incident management practices, including on-call rotation, escalation procedures, postmortems and root-cause analysis
• Implementing and managing WAN CEs, with knowledge of MPLS or Segment Routing

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

• Strong background as a Network Engineer in enterprise or large-scale environments
• Experience applying SRE, observability and automation principles to networking, using technologies such as Python, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Ansible and Jenkins
• Experience with Cisco and Arista switching and routing, alongside network security infrastructure, including firewalls, IDS/IPS and network segmentation
• Expertise in Cisco and Arista platforms, including IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS and EOS
• In-depth understanding and hands-on experience with BGP, OSPF, EVPN, VXLAN and MPLS
• Experience with network monitoring tools and predictive analysis systems
