Job description

At Bauer Media Outdoor, our network doesn't just support an office - it powers 33,000+ digital screens, thousands of IoT devices, edge connections, cloud platforms, and media campaigns seen by millions of people every day across the UK and Europe. We're not just maintaining a network. We're building a smart, resilient, AI‑assisted, secure, and globally distributed digital estate. And we need a Network Engineer who lives for uptime, performance, automation and the thrill of a well‑instrumented network environment.

About the Role

You'll join our Infrastructure & Connectivity squad, working across enterprise networking + IoT + cloud + edge, helping to design, deploy, and evolve the foundations that keep our digital estate alive. This is a role that blends:

  • Enterprise networking
  • IoT connectivity (including 4G/5G and SIM estate management)
  • Cloud networking (Azure, vWAN, ExpressRoute, VNets)
  • Automation and Infrastructure as Code
  • AI‑assisted network observability
  • Zero drama incident response (minimal drama)
What you'll be doing
  • Design, deploy and optimise enterprise and IoT network infrastructure
  • Manage Fortinet firewalls, Cisco Meraki SD‑WAN, and secure VPN connectivity
  • Support 4G/5G network architecture, APNs, IMSI/IMEI tracking, and large SIM estates
  • Connect the dots between screens, edge devices, cloud platforms, and data centres
Cloud & Hybrid Networking
  • Deliver Azure network services (vWAN, VNets, ExpressRoute, NSGs, VPN Gateways)
  • Support hybrid networking across public cloud, on‑prem, and edge environments
Automation, AI & Modern Ops
  • Automate provisioning and configuration using Python, REST APIs, Terraform or Ansible
  • Explore AIOps and AI‑driven observability, predictive alerts, and proactive remediation
  • Instrument monitoring via DNA Center, Zabbix, SolarWinds, NetFlow, SNMP, Syslog
Agile Execution
  • Operate in sprint‑based mini squads using Jira and Confluence
  • Build with documentation, version control, repeatability, and shared ownership in mind
You're the right fit if you tick most of these
  • 3‑5+ years in enterprise or carrier‑grade network engineering
  • Comfortable across Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, and Azure networking
  • Worked with 4G/5G, SIM management, IoT gateways, or distributed device estates
  • Fluent in routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, and network security principles
  • Experienced with automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform, APIs)
  • Obsessed with observability, performance, and uptime
  • Curious about AI‑enabled network ops, automation, and continuous improvement
  • Calm, structured, and logical when things get… interesting
  • Great at explaining complex engineering without sounding like a thesaurus exploded
Nice‑to‑haves (not dealbreakers)
  • CCNA, Fortinet NSE, AZ‑700, Network+ or similar
  • Exposure to AIOps, AI MCP, or predictive network automation
  • IoT protocol experience (MQTT, CoAP, AMQP)
  • Experience with Grafana, InfluxDB, or Power BI for network insight
Make a real impact

Your work will literally shape what millions of people see in the real world. Build something from the ground up. Define the tech, the tooling, the standards and the roadmap. Engineering meets creativity where marketing imagination meets real‑world technical execution. Hybrid, flexible, and built for humans – 2–3 days in the London office, autonomy to flex the rest.

Benefits
  • Salary DOE + bonus
  • 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
  • Pension matched up to 8%
  • Healthcare Cash Plan
  • Life insurance + income protection
  • Cycle to Work
  • Travel/season ticket loan
  • Discounts with 100s of retailers
  • A team that's genuinely brilliant, supportive and uncompromisingly curious
