A national infrastructure company in Birmingham seeks a Network Engineer for a hybrid contract role with up to £550 per day. You'll work in a skilled IT team, supporting project work and infrastructure maintenance. Essential skills include CCNA, VPN management, and firewall configuration. Birmingham (hybrid working, 2 days per week WFH)
Up to £550 p/d - inside IR35
Network Engineer required to join the IT Department of a well‑known and public‑facing critical national infrastructure business (circa 2000 staff, 20 in IT with approx.40 sites in the UK), providing services to hundreds‑of‑thousands. You'll operate as part of a small, highly capable IT team supporting fairly complex infrastructure and contributing to large‑scale projects.
You'll initially be supporting a variety of projects detailed below, including assisting in resolving a number of security audit findings and closing off security vulnerabilities flagged up by a recent pen‑test. You will also support the general administration and maintenance of the network system and act as a 3rd line escalation point for tickets escalated up from the Service Desk.
Currently the role is split circa 50% Project vs 50% BAU support.
Initial 3‑month contract (very likely to extend)
Location: Birmingham or Central London with flexibility to work from home two days per week.
Occasional travel to other UK sites required.
