Reed, on behalf of United Utilities are recruiting for Network Leakage Technician to work in and around the Kendal area on a contract basis.

  • Job title: Leakage Technician
  • Location: Kendal and surrounding area
  • Contract: 6 Months Temp, Rolling
  • Hourly pay rate: £18.15 per hour PAYE
  • Working hours: 37.5h per week.Monday to Friday
The role

The role holders will be seen as the leakage champion, undertaking proactive and reactive leakage detection by undertaking specific activities identified through our leakage reports and analysis to meet the requirements of the network and our customers.

The key responsibility that the role with be accountable for are proactive integrity leakage Key activities undertaken by the role holders will include:

  • Use flow and pressure data to identify potential leakage areas and apply appropriate detection methods such as step testing, correlating and logger installation.
  • Assist in incidents. both in-day and out of hours, raise repair work using Toughbook and support network interruption activities.
  • Ensure all tasks are carried out in line with Health and Safety regulations, including confined space entry, dynamic risk assessments and PPE maintenance.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks, boundary valve checks, chlorine/phosphate testing, hydrant monitoring and site setups as per NRSWA.
  • Attend team briefs, complete relevant admin, update mobile devices and support the team with DMA analysis and void property checks
Key accountabilities
  • You will be educated to a good standard at preferably GCSE grade C or above, City and Guilds, or able to demonstrate technical skills
  • Required to comply with all Health and Safety procedures
  • Capable of operating all machinery, equipment and tools within a difficult working environment
  • Team working and communication skills will be an integral requirement of the role
  • Be able to demonstrate the competency to work as part of a high performance team whilst having a proven record of achieving goals, objectives and scorecard measures
  • This role would be ideal for those people with significant leakage detection and operational experience of the water network
Skills & experience
  • You will be educated to a good standard at preferably GCSE grade C or above, City
  • There will also be a dedicated training programme for the role that will allow you to work effectively in their role whilst delivering against our targets
  • A valid UK Drivers licence
