Job summary

NEP UK is seeking a motivated Technical Assistant to join our live production teams in Bracknell and on-site at events. You will work across Vision, Audio, Cameras, Networking, VT and RF, preparing and deploying broadcast equipment under the guidance of senior engineers.

You don’t need extensive outside broadcast experience, but you should be technically minded with a practical mindset and a strong desire to learn. This role offers a clear pathway to more senior technical positions within NEP UK.

• A relevant background, qualification or practical experience in broadcast, media technology, electronics, engineering, networking, audio or cameras.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to investigating technical issues.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A proactive, resilient and flexible approach to working in a live production environment.
• A genuine interest in broadcast technology and a commitment to developing your skills.
• The ability to work five days in seven, including weekends, with schedules varying according to production requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, configure, test, maintain and package broadcast equipment for deployment.
• Assist with camera chains, video and audio routing, fibre, networking, RF and communications systems.
• Support engineers with system integration, cabling, fault-finding and technical problem-solving.
• Travel to event sites to support the rigging, setup and de-rigging of outside broadcast facilities.
• Provide practical technical support during live productions and liaise with operational and engineering teams.
• De-prep, test, clean, check and correctly store equipment following an event.
• Help maintain organised workspaces, monitor spare parts and consumables, and track equipment using NEP’s internal systems.
• Follow all relevant health, safety and technical procedures while contributing positively to the wider team.

At NEP UK, our Technical Assistants help deliver some of the world’s most exciting live productions. This is a hands‑on opportunity for someone with a background or interest in media technology, audio, video, cameras, networking, electronics or engineering who wants to build a career in outside broadcast. You’ll work across Vision, Audio, Cameras, Networking, VT and RF, gaining experience both at our Bracknell base and on location at live events. You’ll support the preparation, deployment and return of broadcast equipment while learning from experienced engineers in a fast-paced, practical environment. This full‑time, permanent role offers a clear pathway into more senior technical positions, with opportunities to develop a specialism in areas such as Vision, Audio, Cameras or Networking.

What We’re Looking For

You do not need extensive outside broadcast experience. We are looking for someone with technical aptitude, a practical mindset and the motivation to learn.

You Should Have

• A relevant background, qualification or practical experience in broadcast, media technology, electronics, engineering, networking, audio, video or cameras.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a methodical approach to investigating technical issues.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be helpful.

Development and progression

More than 80% of your development will take place through practical, on-the-job experience. You’ll receive guided training across Vision, Audio, Cameras, Fibre, Maintenance and broadcast fundamentals, while building your knowledge through daily preparation tasks, deployments and live events. As your experience grows, you’ll have the opportunity to specialise and progress into more senior technical or engineering roles within NEP UK.

Practical details

The role is primarily based at Gemini House, Bracknell, with a balanced mix of in-base preparation and deployment to client production sites. Working patterns may include weekdays, weekends and variable hours depending on event requirements.
