Job Overview

The post holder is responsible for developing, implementing and reviewing planned nursing care, and for the maintenance of associated records for patients in the given clinical area.

Responsibilities

The post holder undertakes and records a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivers and evaluates high standards of evidence‑based nursing care to a diverse group of patients. The post holder is expected to deliver care without direct supervision, to be accountable for the care delivered and any omissions of care, to teach and supervise more junior staff, students and the non‑registered nursing workforce, and to act as a role model delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.

In addition, the post holder is expected to complete the neonatal preceptorship and follow this on with the QIS pathway.

People with neonatal experience are desirable. Opportunities to become qualified in specialty.

Qualifications
  • Experience in a neonatal ward

  • Demonstrates an empathetic, caring and sensitive approach to patients, relatives and carers
  • Demonstrates sound understanding of personal and professional accountability
  • Registered Nurse or studying towards a recognised degree
  • Appropriate UK professional registration
