Role Overview:Shape the future of neighborhood-based health and care in Slough and East Berkshire by embedding innovative approaches, influencing national policy, and driving measurable improvements in health equity. Serve as the strategic bridge between NHS England, Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), and local government, translating local insights into national impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic vision and leadership across the system, aligning local plans with national objectives and the Integrated Care Strategy.

Lead system-wide governance, chair strategic partnership boards, and influence decisions at Chief Executive, Board, and Cabinet levels.

Build a shared purpose across health, care, and community partners, ensuring commitment and resource alignment for Neighbourhood Health ambitions.

Act as a strategic change agent, embedding Neighbourhood Health principles in commissioning, workforce planning, and community development strategies.

Provide strategic assurance to the ICS Executive and Health & Wellbeing Board regarding progress, risk, and outcomes.

Main duties of the job

As a first-wave system within the National Neighbourhood Health Improvement Programme (NNHIP), Slough and East Berkshire play a pivotal role in shaping a national model for neighbourhood-based health and care. The Strategic Coach provides visible, high-impact system leadership, embedding Neighbourhood Health principles across local and regional health economies, influencing national policy, and ensuring measurable improvements in health equity and outcomes.

Key Purpose:Operating at the interface of national strategy and local delivery, the postholder serves as a strategic bridge between NHS England, Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), and local government. This role ensures that insights from first-wave implementation directly inform the evolution of the national programme and future NHS commissioning frameworks.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months' service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your director.
