Job description
Overview

We have an excellent opportunity for three senior mental health pharmacists to join our expanding community mental health offer. One role is based within the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) in Tameside and the other two within the Living Well & Access Teams in Bury and Rochdale. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, effective and evidence‑based treatment for patients with serious and enduring mental illness. There is no dispensary or out‑of‑hours commitment, providing the perfect opportunity to develop your clinical skills and broaden your mental health knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver the established clinical pharmacy service to the CMHTs in Tameside, or provide, manage, organise and develop the service for the Living Well & Access Teams across your borough.
  • Lead, deliver, develop and evaluate specialist clinical mental health pharmacy services in your area.
  • Provide expert pharmaceutical advice and liaise with CMHTs, Living Well Teams, GPs, practice pharmacists, other healthcare professionals, patients and carers.
  • Lead on the non‑medical prescribing pathway within the Living Well service and act as an independent prescriber of medication, ensuring that drug therapy is evidence‑based, safe, cost‑effective and appropriate to the individual patient.
  • Provide training to the CMHT / Living Well Team, GPs and other HCPs in primary care around the use of psychotropic medicines.
  • Ensure that pharmacy services work within agreed guidelines to support effective medicines management.
  • Provide cover for other psychiatrical pharmacists employed by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, as requested.
  • Receive clinical and managerial supervision, and have opportunities to develop yourself and the role through education, training, team meetings and quality improvement/audit activities.
  • Be supported to undertake further qualifications as needed.
