Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Highways NEC Supervisor to join a busy client in the Manchester area.

Responsibilities

• Act as the NEC Supervisor for highways schemes under NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
• Conduct frequent site inspections to verify workmanship, materials, and compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Identify, record, and manage defects, ensuring contractors implement corrective actions promptly.
• Support the Project Manager with NEC contract processes, including early warnings, compensation events, and programme reviews.
• Maintain detailed and accurate site records, inspection reports, and contract documentation.
• Monitor traffic management, site safety, and environmental compliance on all active works.
• Liaise with contractors, designers, statutory undertakers, and internal highways teams to ensure efficient project delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience supervising highways or civil engineering works under NEC contracts.
• Strong understanding of highways construction, maintenance processes, and relevant standards (e.g., DMRB, MCHW).
• Effective communication, reporting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
• Relevant qualification in civil engineering, highways, or construction (HNC/HND or equivalent).
