Job description

You will play a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of all manufactured aerospace components. Duties will include performing meticulous non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections to detect flaws, cracks, corrosion, and other imperfections without compromising the material's performance. The role requires a thorough approach, adherence to stringent industry standards and strong collaboration with engineering and quality assurance teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform NDT Inspections: Conduct routine and complex NDT on a variety of materials (metals, composites) using multiple methods, including:
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
  • Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI)
  • Eddy Current Testing (ET)
  • Visual Inspection (VT)
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all testing procedures and results comply with national and international aerospace standards and regulations.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately interpret results, report findings, and complete detailed inspection reports, risk assessments, and equipment service records using relevant IT systems (e.g., SAP, MS Office).
  • Equipment Management: Maintain, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment safely and effectively, ensuring all equipment is within the valid calibration date.
  • Collaboration and Quality Assurance: Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to address non-conformities and support root cause analysis (RCCA) and continuous improvement activities.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • Certification: Minimum NDT Level 2 certification
  • Proven experience conducting NDT within an aerospace, defence, or precision engineering manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical specifications, and standards.
  • Core Competencies: Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills for report writing and collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001/AS9100).
  • An engineering apprenticeship or a relevant HNC/HND in an engineering discipline.
