National Ready-Mix Performance Manager

Are you a dedicated Performance Manager looking to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic and forward‑thinking organisation? At Tarmac, we’re on the lookout for a National Ready‑Mix Performance Manager to join the team where you will develop and lead performance initiatives across Tarmac’s UK Ready‑Mix business to improve EBITDA and the wider value‑chain contribution to Tarmac.

About the Role

As a National Ready‑Mix Performance Manager, you will provide guidance and direction through coaching and facilitating the adoption of continuous improvement mindsets and behaviours to the management teams that you will be working alongside, lead and deliver business‑wide continuous improvement & asset optimisation projects and help develop short‑ and long‑term strategies for the UK Ready‑Mix business across all areas to name a few.

We are looking for candidates who have experience in Ready‑Mix & Concrete, i.e. have worked for a Construction company prior. You should know how a Ready‑Mix plant works and have production experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will carry out the following duties and responsibilities (not exhaustive):

  • Engage with all levels of the business to identify improvement opportunities, champion and implement national initiatives ensuring the use of Continuous Improvement tools to enable business improvements.
  • Identify and implement specific lean projects.
  • Deliver targeted projects and recommendations for efficiency improvement and, through the regional managers, implement sustainable improvements within the regional businesses.
  • Update the regional team on current performance versus targets.
  • Promote the use of data to drive challenging performance conversations within line management; coach and facilitate where necessary, dashboard reviews at all levels of the business.
  • Provide technical guidance to Regional Management around the use of appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Work closely with the regional team using a coaching style to ensure leadership behaviours are always exhibited.
  • Maintain an effective awareness of current best practices in development and use.

  • Prior experience in the construction industry, specifically Ready‑Mix.
  • Operational experience in Ready‑Mix, commercial logistics and further technical experience.
  • Ability to lead improvements within operational teams and experience in strategy implementation.
  • Strong communication skills across a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels.
