Job Summary

Are you passionate about ensuring lifesaving equipment is always ready when it’s needed most? St John Ambulance is looking for a National Medical Devices Technician to join our team, playing a vital role in maintaining and commissioning medical devices that support our regulated activities nationwide.

In this role, you will work from a designated workshop, travelling to SJA locations to carry out maintenance, testing, and repairs, ensuring all equipment meets national, regulatory, and manufacturer standards. You will be responsible for scheduling and planning maintenance through our asset management system and coordinating with key equipment users to keep everything running smoothly.

You’ll also provide expert support across regions, helping during surge activity or covering planned or unplanned absences, making a real difference to the delivery of our lifesaving services. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled technician who thrives on autonomy, variety, and making an impact on a national scale.

About You
  • ONC/D Electrical & Electronic Engineering qualification.
  • Clean UK driving licence.
  • Demonstrable experience in medical device maintenance and repair
  • Experience planning and executing preventative maintenance (PPM) work autonomously.
  • Experience using MS Office and asset management/IT systems.
  • Competent in periodic inspection and testing of medical devices to IEC 62353.
  • Competent in the use of Health Monitoring Testing Equipment.
About the Role
  • Carry out maintenance, fault diagnosis, and safety reporting of medical devices in line with manufacturer instructions and training.
  • Ensure timely execution of maintenance to maximise equipment availability and meet operational requirements.
  • Manage assets, tools, calibration control, health monitoring test equipment, and local engineering spares inventory.
  • Comply with SJA policies, Health & Safety regulations, data protection requirements, and uphold SJA H.E.A.R.T values.
  • Maintain training currency and undertake any other duties appropriate to the role, skills, and responsibilities.
