About The Role

We have an exciting new role for an National Business Development Manager for our Government sector team, who will be integral to the success of our national sales strategy, ensuring that we have a consistent, joined-up approach to managing our customer base. As a National Business Development Manager you will manage and develop the portfolio of public sector accounts and frameworks in a way that delivers sales and growth targets, maximises revenue across all income streams and which delivers optimum service in line any required service level agreements. Sunbelt have established relationships with customers in both Central and Local Government. Typical customers include DEFRA, MoJ, MoD and at a local level NHS Trusts and hospitals and Councils.

Key responsibilities will:
  • To deliver a high level of customer service in partnership with Service Centres and Business Sales Teams.
  • Develop successful long term business relationships by networking with key decision makers at different levels and functions across the customer’s business in order to maximise Sunbelt Rentals revenue and share of the business.
  • Facilitate the development of effective business relationships between Sunbelt Rentals staff and key client staff across all levels and functions, in a way that cements the existing business and provides a platform for revenue growth.
  • To partner with the client business in order to identify initiatives and processes that will add value, improve efficiency and reduce cost for both the customer and Sunbelt Rentals.
  • Maximise Sunbelt Rentals share of the client business and to identify and act upon opportunities for profitable revenue growth across all income streams.
  • Support any tender process in a way that maximises Sunbelt Rentals opportunity to secure new business.

  • Experience of developing effective customer relationships, generating real business growth and winning and developing new business.
  • Experience of plant hire or construction industry. (Desirable)
  • Experience working with Government or public sector customers. (Desirable)
  • Track record in developing and implementing SLAs and delivering optimum customer service in line with SLAs.
  • Track record in delivering clear and measurable improvements across account portfolio.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, superior networking skills.
  • Strategic approach with the ability to balance day to day activities with a focus on delivering long term objectives.
  • Innovative approach with the ability to move quickly in order to exploit business opportunities.
