A national charitable organization in the UK is seeking a Clinical Lead for Nursing & Midwifery to provide strategic leadership and guidance on clinical matters. This role involves leadership, management, and advice on maintaining high-quality clinical services. Ideal candidates will have experience in nursing management, regulatory compliance, and a strong ability to communicate across various stakeholders.
As the organisations Clinical Lead for Nursing & Midwifery you will support the Deputy Chief Clinical Officer and act alongside the National Clinical Leads for medicine and paramedicine you will provide strategic Clinical Leadership, Management and Advice to the organisation on all clinical matters to ensure that it delivers clinical services that are compliant, safe and of a high quality.
Provide national clinical leadership to support the development and implementation of National Clinical Strategies across St John Ambulance Cymru. Lead initiatives to recruit, retain, and develop nurses, midwives, health visitors, nursing associates, associate practitioners, and students, ensuring their integration into frontline practice. Support the Deputy Chief Clinical Officer in delivering expert nursing input into strategic issues including regulatory standards, Infection Prevention and Control, Morbidity and Mortality Reviews, and MHRA alerts. Assist in managing Controlled Drug provision and support clinical duties related to medicines. Act as the clinical lead for Infection Prevention and Control and participate in the On-Call Senior Clinical Advisor rota. Provide expert nursing advice to inform training, operational, and clinical practice changes. Attend Clinical Forums and Risk meetings, promote collaboration across teams to share best practice and support national quality improvement initiatives. Build relationships with external health partners and stakeholders. Line manage healthcare professionals, ensuring compliance with professional standards. Conduct investigations and produce reports as required. Represent the organisation on committees and working groups. Carry out Annual Development Reviews and ensure compliance with health and safety policies. Be prepared to undertake additional duties appropriate to the role.
We have supported people and communities across Wales since 1880. We existed before the NHS in Wales and provided the earliest medical support to those who were sick or injured.
Since March 2020, we’ve worked closely with NHS Wales, increasing our capacity and developing new innovative ways of working to assist and relieve the overwhelming pressure on the frontline healthcare. We are first responders and provide services for people who have fallen and those in crisis. We look after hundreds of thousands of people at over 1000 events per year from football crowds to marathon runners and night time revellers.

Role Purpose:

Potential time commitment: Minimum 25 hours per month
Location: Working across all 7 County areas. Requirement to travel whenever the need arises and to attend events, meetings or any other SJAC business. Reasonable travelling and subsistence payments will be made in accordance with SJAC Policy.
Responsible to: Directly accountable to the Chief Clinical Officer, Clinical Director, and Professionally Accountable to the Clinical Director
This role involves:
Training and Support: Statutory & Mandatory Training will be available throughout your role. Support will be provided by the Clinical Director and NHQ Staff.
