Overview

Are you a highly skilled and passionate expert in Adult Safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA)? Do you thrive on providing specialist guidance and leadership that ensures safe, legal, and truly person-centred care?

We are looking for a dynamic and inspiring Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults / MCA Lead to join our team. This is a crucial leadership role where you'll drive compliance with key legislation, including the Care Act (2014), Human Rights Act (1998), and the MCA (2005/2019 amendments).

Safeguarding is the golden thread across all health and social care services and the experience of working in a Named professional for Safeguarding Adults and MCA Lead role in CLCH will equip you with transferable skills and experience for future career development. The ability to work independently is essential, and frequent travel across the organisational area may be required.

You'll be instrumental in embedding the Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP) principles and a Think Family approach across our services.

Key Responsibilities

Your main duties will include:

  • Expert Leadership & Advice: Providing highly specialised advice, support, and leadership on all aspects of Adult Safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act (MCA), and associated legislation (Care Act, DoLS/LPS
  • Strategic Collaboration: Representing CLCH at Safeguarding Adult Boards (SABs) and multi-agency partnerships, influencing the strategic safeguarding agenda across the health and social care economy.
  • Driving Assurance: Leading the safeguarding assurance work plan, managing the safeguarding duty system, monitoring performance data, and ensuring compliance with CQC standards and statutory duties.
  • Policy & Practice Development: Developing, reviewing, and embedding robust, innovative safeguarding policies, and coordinating responses to serious case reviews (e.g., SARs) to ensure lessons are learned and embedded.
  • Education & Support: Developing and delivering specialist safeguarding training (including MCA, DoLS, FGM, PREVENT) and providing high-quality restorative safeguarding supervision to all CLCH staff.
  • Advocacy: Championing the rights of individuals and communities, ensuring that the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal and Think Family are at the heart of all our services.
