Job summary

MacGregor Industrial Supplies in Kirkwall is seeking a Multi Skilled Retail Assistant to join our Kirkwall team. The role combines stock management, merchandising and customer service to keep the branch well stocked and inviting.

You'll replenish stock, maintain displays, assist customers at the trade counter, process sales, and support colleagues across the branch during busy periods. This is a full-time, 37.5-hour-per-week role with a friendly team and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Retail, warehousing, stock control or customer service experience.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive and reliable approach to work.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to undertake manual handling.
• Basic IT skills and confidence using business systems.
• Flexible approach and willingness to support different areas of the branch.
• Experience in merchanting, retail, agricultural, trade supplies or warehouse environments would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Replenishing stock across the showroom and warehouse areas.
• Ensuring shelves, displays and product areas are clean, organised and well presented.
• Receiving, checking and putting away deliveries.
• Assisting with stock counts and stock accuracy activities.
• Identifying low stock levels and reporting replenishment requirements.
• Supporting customers at the trade counter and showroom.
• Processing sales transactions and customer orders.
• Helping customers locate products and offering advice where appropriate.
• Loading and unloading stock safely.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety and organisation.
• Supporting colleagues across the branch during busy periods.
• Assisting with seasonal displays, promotions and merchandising activities.

The Role
