Employer: Mellor Community Primary School, Leicester City Council

Location: Leicester

Contract Type: Part-Time Fixed‑Term

Start Date: 5th January 2026

Closing Date: 20th November 2025 at 13:00

Contract: Part‑time, 18 hours per week, working three full days (Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday), term time only with 1 extra Inset Training Day (05/01/26), pay grade 5 point 11‑14

The Successful Candidates Will
  • Have a passion for delivering high quality and innovative music education.
  • Experience in playing a musical instrument and the ability to read music.
  • Have a music related qualification (i.e. Music Diploma, Instrumental grade, Music degree. This is a desirable requisite.)
  • Experience teaching class sized groups.
  • Commit to high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Commit to inclusion and success for all pupils.
  • Have relevant qualifications including GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above.
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills.
  • Have energy, motivation and a good sense of humour.
  • Deliver lessons following the school’s music curriculum.
  • Manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment.
  • Respond to any questions from pupils about process and procedures.
  • Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Complete assessment records to inform class teachers or pupil progress and engagement during music lessons.
  • Report, as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures, on the behaviour of pupils during the class and on any problems arising.
