Museum Services Manager (P00800) Starting salary £41,992pa with progression to £45,089pa through annual increments subject to satisfactory service 37 hours per week (rota).

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Museum Manager to drive forward the Welwyn Hatfield Museum Service. This busy service runs two heritage sites; Mill Green Museum and Mill with a working watermill and social history museum and Welwyn Roman Baths, a Scheduled monument, the remains of a 3rd century Anglo/Roman bathing suite, ingeniously preserved under the A1(M) motorway.

As Museum Manager you will oversee the day-to-day operations of both sites and work closely with our dedicated team of staff and volunteers to promote and preserve the facilities ensuring a high standard of service, changing exhibitions and an events programme. You will be part of the rota system covering the evening operating hours of the museum.

Qualifications: Educated to degree level with a desirable postgraduate Museum Studies qualification, extensive experience of working in an accredited museum, experience of the Accreditation renewal process and experience in a collections and exhibitions-based role. Good organisational, communication and IT skills. Driving licence valid in UK and use of a motor vehicle is essential. Enhanced DBS check required. Ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential.
