Job summary

MorePeople is seeking a Shift Maintenance Engineer in Whitby, North Yorkshire for a multiskilled role within a family‑owned food manufacturer. You will maintain a wide range of production and site equipment, with a strong emphasis on electrical fault‑finding and practical mechanical maintenance.

The role operates on rotating 8‑hour shifts with regular overtime, weekends approx 1 in 5, and the opportunity to take ownership from day one.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and fault-finding industrial production equipment.
• Good electrical fault-finding ability up to 415V.
• Strong mechanical maintenance across pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings and gearboxes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance.
• Respond to and resolve equipment breakdowns promptly.
• Electrical and mechanical fault-finding across production lines.
• Work with electrical systems up to 415V and three-phase systems.
• Install and upgrade equipment and support projects.
• Prioritise workload between maintenance, breakdowns and projects.
