Job summary

Michael Page (UK) is partnering with a globally recognised food manufacturer to recruit a Maintenance Engineer on a 4-on/4-off shift pattern. The role covers preventative maintenance on production and packaging equipment, fault diagnosis, and ensuring compliance with HACCP standards.

You will work with production teams to minimise downtime, support continuous improvement, and assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a maintenance or shift engineer in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Strong electrical and/or mechanical engineering skills.
• Experience with PLC fault finding (desirable).
• Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
• Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent).
• Electrical certification (e.g., 18th Edition) - desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform fault diagnosis and repair.
• Ensure all machinery operates in line with food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP).
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete all documentation.
• Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and optimize performance.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Monitor and maintain utilities (e.g., steam, refrigeration, compressed air systems).
• Identify root causes of recurring faults and implement corrective actions.
