Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on automated machinery.
  • Identify and resolve breakdowns efficiently to minimise downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and inspection standards.

Location: Leigh, Greater Manchester

Shifts: 2pm-10pm or Nights (Sun-Thu, 10pm-7am) — 2 roles available

Salary: £46,934 (training rate) > £51,025 after training > £57,148 from May 2026

Contract: Permanent, Full-time

The Role

You’ll play a key part in maintaining and improving a high‑volume automated manufacturing operation. This is a hands‑on, proactive role where you’ll diagnose, repair, and improve electrical and mechanical systems across modern production lines.

Day to day, you will:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on automated machinery
  • Identify and resolve breakdowns efficiently to minimise downtime
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and inspection standards
  • Work closely with Production and Quality teams to optimise processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives

Essential experience & qualifications
  • Time-served apprenticeship + ONC (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Proven post‑apprenticeship experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting
  • Strong electrical fault‑finding and maintenance skills
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Confident using CMMS and other computer‑based systems
