Job summary

North Northamptonshire Council is seeking a highly motivated repairs and maintenance operative to work on council housing stock in a customer-facing role. You will perform multiskilled general repairs, prioritise quality, and help residents with responsive service delivery.

The role requires practical housing maintenance experience, a recognised trade qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds), good communication skills, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Recognised trade qualification such as NVQ or City & Guilds, ideally supported by an apprenticeship.
• Practical experience in housing maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment work.
• Multi-skilled trade capabilities and willingness to undertake further training.
• Good interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to participate in an out-of-hours rota.

Responsibilities

• Carry out multiskilled general repairs on NNC owned stock to the highest standards.
• Be customer-focused, respectful, efficient, supportive and trustworthy when dealing with repairs in this customer facing role.
• Communicate effectively and maintain high safety and quality of workmanship.
