We are looking for a Multiskilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to work on a permanent basis in St Helens.
The role is working for a global manufacturing company.
The shifts for the Multiskilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer are Monday to Friday; 6am - 2pm and 2pm - 10pm (No nights).
Salary is c£40-50,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus 25 days' holidays, company bonus, healthcare, pension etc.
Duties for the Multiskilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer:
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical production equipment.
- Diagnose electrical faults on machinery including motors, sensors, control panels, PLCs, drives, and automation systems.
- Carry out mechanical repairs and adjustments as required, including work on pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, and general plant equipment.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise operational disruption.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and modification of machinery and production lines.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are performed safely and in compliance with company procedures and industry regulations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, documentation, and equipment records.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to reliability and efficiency projects.
- Support cross-functional teams including production, quality, and engineering.
- Participate in shift patterns, on-call rota, or overtime as required.
Skills & Experience
- Time-served apprenticeship or recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent).
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Good mechanical aptitude and experience working on mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.) is desirable.
- Experience working with AC/DC motors, variable speed drives, sensors, and automated machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of health & safety legislation, safe isolation procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
