Job summary

Ministry of Justice in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a Faith/Belief Chaplain to provide pastoral care to prisoners and staff within a multifaith team. You will deliver faith-based and non-faith-based courses in line with policy PSI 05/2016 and support resettlement efforts.

This is a non-rotational, non-operational role with no line management, offering hybrid working and the opportunity to engage local faith communities while ensuring welfare and spiritual health for detainees and staff.

Qualifications

• Qualified chaplain with formal theology or religious studies background.
• Ability to provide pastoral care to prisoners and staff in a multifaith context.
• Experience in planning worship and faith-based activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on faith/belief systems and pastoral care.
• Plan and lead worship and faith-based meetings.
• Deliver opportunities for worship, study and programmes.
• Collaborate with chaplains, volunteers and external groups.
• Support the ACCT process and engage with local faith communities.
