Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd is seeking a Multi-Skilled Operative to join a facilities maintenance team at a large commercial and secure site in Cardiff. You will perform a range of building fabric repairs, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance to keep the site safe, compliant and operational.

Ideal candidates hold NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds, have strong carpentry/joinery skills, and can work independently within strict security procedures.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds or equivalent trade qualification.
• Experience in commercial, facilities management, public sector or secure environments.
• Strong carpentry/joinery skills with ability to undertake multi-trade tasks.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive building maintenance repairs.
• Complete a range of trade tasks including joinery and carpentry repairs.
• Basic tiling.
• Minor plastering and patch repairs.
• General building fabric maintenance.
• Internal and external decorating.
• Ensure all works are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
• Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicles.
• Accurately record works completed using handheld technology.
• Comply with all health, safety and security requirements.
• Work collaboratively with site teams and other trades.
• Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota when required.

Multi-Skilled Operative (Commercial & Secure Environment)

Location: HMP Cardiff Permanent | Full-Time

Your New Role

Hays are recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Operative to join a facilities maintenance team delivering planned and reactive maintenance within a large commercial and secure site environment in Cardiff.

Working across a busy operational facility, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of building fabric repairs and maintenance tasks, ensuring the site remains safe, compliant and fully operational. This role offers a diverse workload and would suit someone who enjoys working independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.

Due to the nature of the site, all work must be completed in line with strict security, safety and compliance procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned and reactive building maintenance repairs.

Complete a range of trade tasks including:

Joinery and carpentry repairs

Basic tiling

Minor plastering and patch repairs

General building fabric maintenance

Internal and external decorating

Ensure all works are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.

Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicles.

Accurately record works completed using handheld technology.

What You'll Need to Succeed
