Job description

We are working closely with Southern Housing to assist with the appointment of a Multi-Trade Operative on a 2-month contract highly likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay : 18.22 - 23.27 per hour

Summary

The Multi-Trade Operative will carry out a wide range of skilled works within properties with a particular focus on preparing void properties for re‑letting. The role requires a flexible tradesperson with strong practical skills capable of delivering high‑quality repairs, maintenance and refurbishments across multiple disciplines. The operative will ensure that all works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard supporting Southern Housing in providing safe and well‑maintained homes for residents.

Responsibilities

• Undertake a variety of multi‑skilled trade tasks including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, painting and basic electrical works.
• Carry out repairs, maintenance and refurbishments to void properties to ensure they are ready for occupancy within agreed timescales.
• Work independently and proactively to complete allocated jobs in line with schedules and quality standards.
• Identify and report any additional works required, ensuring issues are escalated appropriately.li>
• Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and organisational policies.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent trade qualification in a core discipline (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, plastering or similar).

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a multi‑trade operative, maintenance operative or similar role.
• Strong experience in carrying out void property works including a range of internal and external repairs.
• Demonstrated ability to work across multiple trades to a competent standard.
• Experience working within housing, local authority or construction sector (desirable).
