Job summary

Whitgift School in South Croydon is seeking a Multi Trade Carpenter to maintain and develop the School’s facilities, with a focus on carpentry and general maintenance. You will carry out repairs to doors, windows, locks, furniture and fittings, and support the Maintenance Team with projects and events.

The ideal candidate is an experienced and qualified carpenter with strong maintenance skills and the ability to use workshop machinery and power tools safely.

Permanent, Full-Time, Full Year Contract

Salary: Point 26 – £41,586 to Point 30 – £47,200 gross pay per annum depending on qualifications and relevant experience.

Whitgift is one of Britain’s leading independent boarding and day schools for boys aged between 10 and 18 years, with approximately 1500 pupils and over one hundred boarding or flexi-boarding pupils. It is set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.

We are seeking to appoint a Multi Trade Carpenter will play a key role in maintaining and developing the School’s facilities, with a primary focus on carpentry and general maintenance. The role includes undertaking repairs to doors, windows, locks, furniture and fittings, carrying out minor refurbishment and alteration works, and supporting the wider Maintenance Team with projects, School events and general site requirements.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and qualified carpenter with strong general maintenance skills and the ability to use workshop machinery and power tools safely. They will be practical, organised and adaptable, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise a changing workload, work independently and as part of a team, and maintain high standards of health and safety across the School.
