Qualifications

  • Must have NVQ3 or suitable mechanical/electrical apprenticeship.
  • Experience from a rolling stock background is ideal.
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out modifications to GWR Diesel Multiple Units.
  • Complete repairs to GWR Diesel Multiple Units.
  • Overhaul subsystems of GWR Diesel Multiple Units.
  • Repair electrical components in the Electrical Test Room.
  • Assist with complex defect investigations.
  • Support production teams with units for service.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Depot Engineering Management Team the multi skilled technician role will be responsible for supporting improvements to the GWR Diesel Multiple Fleet.

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out Modifications to GWR Diesel Multiple Units
  • Completing repairs to GWR Diesel Multiple Units
  • Overhauling sub systems of GWR Diesel Multiple Units
  • Repairing Electrical Components in our Electrical Test Room
  • Assisting with complex defect investigations
  • When required, supporting production teams with the delivery of units for service, including the completion of Service, Quality & Customer Environment defects.
  • Assisting the technical team with the improvement of written maintenance procedures.
Who we're looking for

You’ll need to be:

  • Safety aware
  • Flexible in your approach to work.
  • Proficient in interpretating engineering schematics and working to a procedure
  • Able to fault find on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Able to write logical reports and complete documentation in a clear and logical manner.
  • Used to working in an environment where deadlines are important
  • A good communicator
  • Self-Motivated
  • A quick learner and able to work using your own initiative
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems
  • Able to work regular night shifts
Minimum Requirements
  • NVQ3 or a suitable mechanical/ electrical or multi skilled apprenticeship
  • Ideally suitable experience from a rolling stock background or transferable experience from a similar industry
  • Experienced in working in a continuous improvement environment.

Additional Information

The Depot Engineering Manager Exeter requires a DMU Performance Manager to have oversight of the Class 150, 158 & 165 DMUs allocated to Exeter T&RS depot. They will work closely with the maintenance technicians, providing support to ensure we provide a safe, reliable, well maintained and efficient fleet of trains.
