Job summary

DS Smith's Redditch Packaging site is seeking an experienced Production Operative to join a fast-paced manufacturing team. The role focuses on safe operation of production machinery, monitoring performance, and contributing to quality and waste reduction.

You will set up machines, perform changeovers, complete routine maintenance, and support continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining accurate production records.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of health and safety within a factory setting.
• Experience working to production targets and quality standards.
• Ability to identify issues, troubleshoot problems and take appropriate action.
• Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new machines and processes.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operating and monitoring production machinery safely and efficiently.
• Maximising machine performance whilst minimising downtime and waste.
• Carrying out machine set-up, changeovers, adjustments, and basic fault-finding.
• Working across multiple production assets and developing multi-skilled capability.
• Performing routine cleaning, inspection, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Ensuring products consistently meet customer quality standards.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
• Collaborating with colleagues to meet production targets and business objectives.
• Maintaining accurate production and quality records.
