The role

As a Mobile Crane Operator, you’ll be at the heart of critical heavy-lift operations that support national defence. This is a hands‑on role where precision and safety are paramount. You’ll contribute to projects that keep our naval assets operational, making a real difference to the UK’s security and infrastructure. This is an opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic environment while building a career that matters.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Operating and maintaining mobile cranes in line with approved lift plans and safety regulations.
  • Setting up, operating, and de‑rigging cranes according to SOPs and safety protocols.
  • Supporting vessel berthing and slipping evolutions, including heavy‑lift and ancillary tasks.
  • Assisting with planned maintenance and defect rectification to meet KPIs.
  • Performing monthly maintenance routines on mobile cranes.

This is a full‑time, permanent position, based onsite at HMNB Clyde.

Essential experience
  • Knowledge of slinging operations.
  • Previous experience in heavy‑lift or similar environments.
  • Ability to follow strict safety standards and procedures.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Adaptability to varied operational tasks.
Qualifications
  • HGV Class 1 driving licence.
  • CPCS card is desirable.
