Job description

Based in Lincolnshire, the post holder will provide a pivotal role within Serco, providing combined Logistics and Operational functions and this role will require you to undertake the delivery of goods to locations throughout mainland UK and Northern Ireland in light commercial vehicles to collect and deliver client assets driving security hardened and enhanced light commercial vehicles as well as providing off site logistical support to colleagues and clients as directed. In addition, you will be required to undertake all aspects of warehousing including goods in/goods out, stock movement, stock control, quality assurance, using and understanding our bespoke asset management system and database control. The post holder must be able to attain and retain HM Government SC security clearance. A current, clean driving licence is required.

Responsibilities
  • Nationwide delivery and collection of consignments as directed by the Logistics Manager
  • Any additional driving duties as required and directed by the Logistics Manager
  • Manual handling of assets, including within the confined space of a vehicle, up to and including furniture and outsized items.
  • Administration for the use of company vehicles and movement of consignments.
  • First line vehicle maintenance.
  • Adhering to the Domestic Driver (UK) and EU driving legislation as appropriate.
  • Post holder will be required to undertake occasional overnight stops away from the base of operations as directed by the Logistics Manager
  • Provide assistance within our warehouse facility as directed by the Logistics Manager, including the storage and picking of stock and use of counterbalance or Reach forklift equipment.
  • Undertaking first line maintenance and cleaning of communal areas within the warehouse facility.
  • Providing emergency cover to the alarm call out roster as directed by the Logistics Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Undertake yellow belt training to participate in the Operational Excellence program.
  • Must be IT literate and able to use the bespoke internal asset management system. Training will be provided.
  • Must be numerate and literate and able to accurately complete manifest and vehicle paperwork.
  • Experience in a driving role.
  • An understanding of the UK Domestic driver (UK) regulations.
  • Experience or understanding of working environment processes, or motivation to learn.
  • Forklift (Counterbalance or Reach) – desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
