Job description
Maintenance Engineer - Food

Salary: Up to £39,500 basic (approx. £45k OTE)
Hours: Mon-Fri, 6:00am-3:00/4:30pm (regular overtime available)
Holidays: 25 days including bank holidays
Overtime: 1.25x weekdays, 1.5x Saturdays
Pension: 3/5%
Contracted Hours: 40 hrs/week (average +6 hrs overtime)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced Food operation. You will support both reactive and planned maintenance, ensuring the smooth operation of critical machinery. This is a hands‑on engineering role requiring solid mechanical and electrical competence, with routine exposure to hydraulics and pneumatics and occasional PLC fault finding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out reactive and planned maintenance on production equipment
  • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Operate following strict H&S procedures
  • Undertake basic PLC fault finding (Allen Bradley & Mitsubishi‑rarely required)
  • Ensure equipment uptime and efficient production flow
  • Complete maintenance documentation and support continuous improvement
Skills & Qualifications
  • 18th Edition (essential)
  • Strong mechanical/electrical skills
  • Experience in Food or FMCG environments preferred
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Training & Progression

Refresher training provided (must have core skills already). Progression opportunities available for those who want to develop.
