Part‑Time Maintenance Engineer

📍 Location: Selby, North Yorkshire

💷 Salary: £20 per hour (Approx. £30,000 per annum based on hours worked)

🕒 Hours: 3 Days/Week | Flexible Schedule | Day Shifts (8am‑5pm)

📄 Employment Type: Part‑Time | Permanent

About Us

We are an independent testing and refurbishment facility, based in Selby, that specialises in the refurbishment, pressure testing, and maintenance of gas cylinders and associated systems. Precision, quality, and safety are the cornerstones of our operation – and we're growing.

As we expand our operations, we’re looking for a skilled and experienced Maintenance Engineer to support the reliability of our plant and equipment in a hands‑on, flexible role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on plant and machinery
  • Maintain and fault‑find equipment such as:
    • Shot blasting machines
    • Air compressors
    • Conveyor systems
    • Pressure systems
    • Industrial steam boilers (desirable)
  • Read and interpret engineering schematics
  • Respond to occasional daytime call‑outs (flexibly arranged)
  • Support operational uptime and equipment efficiency
About You
  • Proven experience in maintenance engineering (mechanical bias with electrical skills)
  • Knowledge of PLC systems (basic fault‑finding, not programming)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Welding/fabrication experience (advantageous, not essential)
  • Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills
  • A proactive, dependable attitude
  • Bonus: Previous supervisory experience or looking to transition into a senior, mentoring role
Qualifications & Experience
  • Completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and familiarity with electrical systems
  • Understanding of safety standards related to pressure systems, boilers, and industrial machinery
