Job summary

Warburtons is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer for our Wednesbury bakery site. You will blend mechanical and electrical engineering know-how to maintain, fault-find and improve automated equipment in a modern food manufacturing environment.

The role emphasizes preventing issues before they arise, reducing downtime, and sharing expertise with the wider maintenance team. A mechanical bias is welcome and collaboration with production is essential.

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering qualification such as Apprenticeship, HNC, BTEC or equivalent.
• Experience in maintenance within manufacturing or FMCG environments is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and fault-find on mechanical and electrical systems to keep equipment running safely and reliably.
• Use data and root cause analysis to implement long-term solutions and prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with Production, Safety and Hygiene teams to drive continuous improvement.
• Support automated equipment, processing and packaging systems to reduce downtime.
• Champion Health & Safety and quality standards in all maintenance activities.

At Warburtons, engineering keeps everything moving. From maintaining and improving our equipment to solving problems before they become problems, our Engineers play a big part in keeping our bakeries doing what they do best.

We’re looking for aMulti-Skilled Engineer to join our team in Wednesbury. Ideally, you’ll bring a strong mix ofmechanical and electrical engineering skills, although a mechanicalbias would be particularly welcome.

And there’s plenty to get stuck into. You’ll be working within a modern food manufacturing environment, helping us keep our equipment safe, reliable and performing at its best.

The Recipe

No two shifts are quite the same.

You’ll work alongside our Production, Safety and Hygiene teams, using your engineering know-how to maintain, find faults, fix problems and, importantly, look for ways of stopping them happening again.

You’ll be involved in:

• Planned and preventative maintenance
• Condition based monitoring
• Mechanical and electrical fault finding
• Improving equipment reliability and reducing downtime
• Using data and root cause analysis to find long-term solutions
• Working with automated equipment, processing and packaging systems
• Supporting continuous improvement across the site
• Sharing ideas and engineering expertise with the wider team

The Method

• Ensure all engineering activities undertaken are compliant to internal & external standards including Health & Safety legislation, identifying any required actions so that the area of responsibility is healthy, safe and accident free.
• Responsible for executing fault finding and maintenance through RCM and CBM activities. Driving improvements in asset reliability and reduction in losses.
• Adheres to site specific machinery procedures to ensure safe and efficient asset maintenance, contributing to the continuous improvement of operational performance.
• Drive a proactive Engineering Continuous Improvement culture - Contributing to the improvement and development of maintenance activities & standard operating procedures.
• Compliance with quality and food safety legislation, company standards and specifications in order to meet the requirements of professional and legal standards.

We’re looking for an Engineer who takes pride in keeping our machines maintained and working efficiently, whilst working in collaboration with our production team.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• A recognised engineering qualification, such as anApprenticeship, HNC, BTEC or equivalent
• Multi Skilled Engineering experience with a Mechanical bias
• Experience within manufacturing or FMCG
• A good understanding of planned and preventative maintenance
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
• An understanding of condition based monitoring
• A practical approach to Health & Safety and Food Safety
