Multi Skilled Workshop Engineer

Rate: £15 £22 per hour (depending on experience)

Location: Dunstable, Bedfordshire

My client is looking for a Multi Skilled Workshop Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team. In this hands‑on role, you’ll assist with engineering support across the workshop, help mentor junior team members, and contribute to the preparation, assembly, and testing of new and upgraded machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support within the workshop environment.
  • Prepare, assemble, and test new and refurbished production equipment.
  • Carry out electrical machine wiring, installation, and mechanical assembly activities.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of machinery on‑site.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve assembly or performance issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and maintenance initiatives.
About You
  • Strong mechanical engineering background, ideally within food production or a similar environment.
  • Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Skilled in electrical and mechanical fault finding and troubleshooting.
  • Familiar with PLC‑based systems (advantageous).
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented, proactive, and eager to learn.
  • Qualified in electrical or mechanical engineering (desirable).
