Job description

MSKCAT Practitioner – Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust

The closing date is 12 December 2025

We are looking for a Band 7 MSK Physiotherapist for a 12‑month maternity cover. The successful candidate will deliver a wide variety of clinical work within the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service in a community clinic setting, working with patients who have a range of complex needs including:

  • Orthopaedic post‑operative patients
  • Chronic pain

Secondment will be considered.

Main duties of the job

Assess and treat own caseload of patients with complex presentations and maintain own records as an autonomous practitioner.

Review patients on a 1:1 basis, deliver therapy and education in class settings.

Lead assessment, liaison and decision‑making processes for patients.

Undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard, using specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience.

Support the Band 8a physiotherapist in the planning, co‑ordination and evaluation of the MSK Physiotherapy Service on a day‑to‑day basis, and cover other areas with similar caseloads as necessary.

Person Specification and Shortlisting
  • BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy
  • Registered with HCPC
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
  • Post‑graduate MSC level training relevant to leadership and MSK
  • Significant post‑registration experience working at Band 6 or 7 level within MSK
  • Specialist clinical knowledge in assessment and treatment of MSK therapy patients
  • Highly developed supervision skills for staff and students
  • Evidence of leading service improvement/development
  • Experience working within MDT and ability to work flexibly
  • Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
  • Ability to travel across the Salford MSK footprint in a timely manner
  • Leadership qualification
  • CPD relevant to MSK Therapy
  • Evidence of supporting equality and diversity in your role
  • Evidence of managing conflict with colleagues, patients and their carers/NOK
  • Completion of Clinical educators course
